KAPPA PHI GAMMA SORORITY, INC.
UPSILON CHARTER
Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. offers a unique sisterhood that is unlike anything else. The organization instills values and professional skills in each and every member. We as an organization believe that our sisterhood is not limited to one’s undergraduate career; it excels beyond graduation, as the bonds we have made are ones that are made for life. Our sorority is known nationally to be one of the most close-knit, networking wise. We provide a variety of mentorship and professional development through each and every one of our chapters and charters.
No! Although Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. is a South-Asian interest sorority, it is by NO means South-Asian exclusive. We take pride in any and all cultures and will treat all rushes and Sisters with respect regardless of their self-identification!
Rush Week is a 1-2 week time period where Sisters (along with other Greek-lettered organizations) will host a series of events for prospective new members to attend. These events may include informationals where you will get to learn more about our organization and what we have to offer, mixers with other organizations, service events to learn more about our philanthropy, and many more!
A bid is an offer to take part in our New Member Education Program.
In order to be eligible for a bid, you must:
-Meet the minimum GPA of 2.5 (not applicable to first-semester students, though those students are still eligible for a bid)
-Be a Storrs-campus resident
-Attend the minimum required number of events
-Complete an interview.
If you receive a bid, you will have the option to either accept or deny it.
If you accept the bid, you will then move on to officially participate in our New Member Education Program and start your journey to becoming an Active Sister of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc.
The New Member Education Program is a transitional period for Potential New Members to experience and learn professional and personal development and embody the principles and values of our organization! In addition, it is also a time for Potential New Members to bond on a more personal level with Sisters.
No. Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. is a strictly non-hazing organization and it is prohibited at a national and local level. Any and all hazing incidents will result in consequences from the University.
For more questions about hazing, please see the attached link: https://solid.uconn.edu/hazing-policy/
Active members are required to pay dues during their time as an undergraduate student. While Sisters are asked to pay dues every term, they are very reasonable and financial support can be arranged if need be.
We the Sisters of Kappa Phi Gamma pride ourselves in maintaining good grades (scholarship is one of our eight principles)! New and active members alike are required to maintain a minimum GPA in their time with us. Should any members grades drop, we will be there as an academic resource and emotional support system to ensure success in the following term!
